How Much Does an Epoxy Garage Floor Cost in 2026? Santa Monica and Westside Prices

See more: Flake epoxy ›A professionally installed epoxy garage floor costs $6.50–$10 per square foot for a flake system, which works out to $2,600–$4,000 for a two-car garage up to 400 sq ft. Solid color runs $9.50–$11.50 per sq ft and metallic $12.50–$18.50. Where you land depends on two things: how many layers go down and how much prep the slab needs.
That is the short version. Here is how we actually build a quote on the Westside.
Prices by system
| System | Per sq ft | Two-car garage (400 sq ft) | Time on site |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flake epoxy | $6.50–$10 | $2,600–$4,000 | 1 day |
| Solid color epoxy | $9.50–$11.50 | $3,800–$4,600 | 3 days |
| Metallic epoxy | $12.50–$18.50 | $5,000–$7,400 | 3–4 days |
| Quartz broadcast | $9–$16.50 | $3,600–$6,600 | 2–3 days |
Every job starts at $2,600, so a one-car garage costs the same as a small two-car.
Why flake ranges from $2,600 to $4,000
It is mostly layer count. A 3-layer floor is a basecoat, a full flake broadcast and a polyaspartic topcoat. That is a complete floor and it starts at $6.50 per sq ft. A 4-layer floor adds a second topcoat, and you can add sanding between coats and grit for traction. A 5-layer floor puts down a clear moisture vapor barrier first, which matters on damp coastal slabs in Venice, the Marina and the beach cities. That build sits at the top, around $10 per sq ft.
Prep is the other half of the price
Two garages with the same footprint can get very different quotes. The difference is almost always the slab. These are the items that move a quote:
- Grinding off an old coating, sealer or paint
- Removing glue or mastic left from carpet, tile or rubber mats
- Advanced crack and spall repair, beyond a routine fill
- Demolishing an existing floor before we can coat
- Moisture mitigation when the slab tests damp
- Extra labor for tight access, oil-soaked concrete or heavy cleanup
A bare, sound slab is quoted at the low end. A slab with peeling paint and long cracks is not, and no honest installer can price that over the phone.
What about $3–$5 per square foot quotes?
You will see them. Usually that price skips diamond grinding (acid etch instead), uses a thin water-based epoxy, or leaves off the polyaspartic topcoat. Those floors look fine for a few months, then lift where hot tires turn. Ask every bidder how they prep, how many coats go down, and what the topcoat is.
Garage size examples
- One-car, about 250 sq ft: $2,600 (project minimum)
- Two-car, 400 sq ft: $2,600–$4,000
- Two-and-a-half car, 500 sq ft: $3,250–$5,000
- Three-car, 650 sq ft: $4,225–$6,500
Those are flake numbers before any extra prep.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does it cost to epoxy a 2-car garage?
A flake epoxy floor on a two-car garage up to 400 sq ft costs $2,600–$4,000 installed. Solid color is $3,800–$4,600 and metallic $5,000–$7,400.
Is epoxy cheaper than tile for a garage?
Usually yes, and it handles hot tires and oil better. Tile can crack under a car and the grout stains.
Does the price include crack repair?
Routine crack filling is included. Advanced repair of wide, moving or spalled cracks is priced separately after we see the slab.
